What is it with men, don't get me wrong I love my dh to death but sometimes I just want to shake him. He doesn't require much sleep at all...4 hours and he's good to go...me...well, I need somewhere between 6 and 8 hours.

For some reason, I've started waking up when he comes to bed so I've asked him...very nicely, I might add...that if he's going to come to bed after midnight to either be stealth like or sleep on the couch because when I wake up I don't generally go back to sleep very easily.

Jump to last night, I haven't slept well in about three days and guess what...he comes in at 1:30 am...not very stealth like either, so I got to enjoy some alone time from 1:30am to 4:00 am...ugh...I was so irritated!

This morning he gets up all happy, nice and bubbly and there I am...drained, exhausted, have a headache and body is aching. He takes a shower and is getting ready to go off to work...where, I might add...he can go to the bathroom alone, eat lunch with his buddies, drive in the car by himself.

I'm left with a teenager and a two year old...both of which are at opposite extreme ends of the spectrum from each other and require as much energy as a person can muster up...and since I don't have any today it should be interesting around here.

Today has been really relaxing around the house. We managed to get the gifts put away and spent the rest of the day resting.

Josh has been on his new computer almost every waking moment...that we let him...and Meredith hasn't stopped playing with her baby dolls.

Ahhhhh...Marc and are getting some down time since they are both so occupied.

We had a great Christmas Day, and hope you did too!

Deciding how to give the computer to Josh was difficult for us. We knew if we wrapped it he would know immediately by the size of the box. If we wrapped each part individually, he would know as soon as he opened one box. Our final decision at 3am was to have him wait in his room and we would plug it all in and get it powered up...then he could come out and we'd be able to see his reaction.

When he came in the living room, he was thrilled and shocked . He was so happy...and, as parents, we were thrilled that we managed not only to get him what he really, really wanted but were also able to keep it a secret from him...can I tell you how hard that was!

We spent the afternoon at my parent's house with other family members, ate a ~fantastic~ meal and exchanged gifts.

Christmas Eve Day was a bit puzzling for us this year. It's the first year, I've actually been done with everything and didn't have any last minute shopping to do. Marc, Josh and I couldn't decide if we liked it this way or not...while it certainly was relaxing, at some level we also missed the hub-bub of the malls.

On another note...since we have Meredith (2) and Josh (13), the Santa topic was another one of perplexity. Josh understands what he needs to about Santa so this year, he was inducted into Santa's Elf Club that Marc and I have long been members of. He got to see the "other" side so to speak, and was amazed at what all the elves do behind the scenes...;). He was excited to see Meredith be so excited on Christmas morning.

Speaking of Josh, like I said...he's 13. His big gift from us this year was a computer...Pentium 4...DVD Reader, Burner...ya know the good kind.
Marc brought it home and did the setup on it, installed Office, etc. and then we stored it at our storage place so it couldn't be found by a 13 year old who just ~might~ be searching for gifts.

Marc got it from storage and brought it home, to our amazement it wouldn't connect to the network here at home. We didn't know why, it worked just fine when he did the setup on it...we played with it for a few hours that day. So you have to imagine this picture...it's Christmas Eve night at midnight...Marc and I have been up since 4am this morning...we are in our bedroom...Marc has the pc and his laptop on the bed, the monitor on the floor...the boxes around him on our bed, both dogs are in the bed upset that their routine is being thrown off kilter and I'm on the other side of the bed doing a couple last minute things. He was so frustrated and I felt so bad for him...I'm ignorant on networks, wireless networks, etc...all I could do was ask him questions which only frustrated him more. I thought we were never going to get a wink of sleep.

He finally got it all working...at 3am...~oy~...can you say T-I-R-E-D!

The presents are wrapped, the stockings are hung...whew...with an entire day to spare ;)

I try to run errands while Meredith is in Mother's Day Out...at two...she just isn't as interested in what Target has on the shelves as I am. It's hard for Josh to understand why we don't just load up and go shopping all day long...that's how most teenagers think, right.

I got Meredith ready, dressed, hair fixed, socks, shoes, juice to take with us...her pants have pockets in them today so she said she needed some money for them...got her some change...anything else you need, my dear...~all good~, she told me.

Off to Target we go, get two carts...one of the big ones where she can ride and it has a cart attached and a regular cart to put stuff in. We start off fine...fine lasted about 2 minutes...she want's out to walk, no...you have to stay in the cart...no, I walk...no, you stay in the cart. We banter back and forth about this for a bit and she finally gave up and stayed in the cart...for another minute or so. Josh is pushing her cart so of course she starts saying, Mommy push me...no, Josh is doing a great job at pushing you...no, Mommy push me...no, Mommy is pushing this cart. By this time, we've made it to the DVD & book section where she spots coloring books...her eyes light up, so Josh and I are more than happy to get her a coloring book and some colors....anything to let us get through Target without a toddler meltdown...those embarrass Josh in public. She gets in big part of the cart and is finally content to let us finish going through Target.

We just about ran through Target praying that the coloring book and colors would last long enough to keep her happy. We paid, loaded her into the truck, loaded our bags and when we get in...Josh looks over at me and says, Mom...now I know why you don't take her all over shopping, it's too much work.

He got to experience what it's like going with her instead of going with Marc and stopping in Starbucks to get coffee, and then leisurely strolling through the entire store...looking at every cd, dvd and video game they offer.

Welcome to my world son...LOL~

Will I be alive on Christmas Day...or will I be the woman that falls over at the door...LOL...that's the question of the day!

Meredith Nicole has decided yet once again to be the "midnight rider" at the Buchsbaum household. She's acquired that nickname from her daddy who doesn't ever seem to require more than about 4-5 hours sleep a night...and he's ~~*always*~~ nice to people...me, on the other hand...lets just say that I really need more than 4-5 hours sleep ;)

Why was she up so late, we don't have a clue. She wasn't sick, or feverish...no problems at all.

She was in fact, happy...~~*very, very happy!*~~ She was laughing, giggling, dancing, jumping and having a great time. She laughed so much that Marc, Josh and I all got the giggles too. Do you know how hard it is to make your baby girl go to bed when she's having so much fun and to her delight we were all having tons of fun with her.

Marc finally put her in her bed and told her to lay down...her response...why...because it's night time...why...because God made it that way...why...so we can rest...why...so he spent at least 15 minutes answering all the why's and finally gave up when they got back to the first why. He told her to lay down again and her response...
"awwwwwww man"...and not just any "awwwwwww man", she's got the cutest way of saying it. I told Marc we have to get that on video.

When we finally got to lay down last night at around 1:00 am, we talked about the fact that we are so blessed. We will take being up at midnight laughing with our kids anytime over her being sick or in the hospital like last year.

Meredith woke up at 9:30 this morning, the first words out of her mouth were, "get dressed?", "get dressed?". She has a thing about getting dressed as soon as she wakes up every day. She wants her clothes, shoes, socks, and hair all done right away.

Strong willed, independent, each one is **ALWAYS RIGHT** so the other is **ALWAYS WRONG** and so on...no wonder I'm looking for my mind half the time!
