What Kind of Kiss Am I?
You have an entrancing kiss~ the kind that leaves
your partner bedazzled and maybe even feeling
he/she is dreaming. Quite effective; the kiss
that never lessens and always blows your
partner away like the first time.
What kind of kiss are you?

Thankful Thursday
I'm thankful for my dear husband, he loves me even when I'm not very loveable~
I'm thankful I have a washer and dryer, I can't imagine having to haul all this laundry elsewhere to do~
I'm thankful for the nice weather we've been having~
I'm thankful that the Lord gave me another day here on earth to be with my family...Thank You God! posted by Angie @ 1/29/2004 09:29:10 AM

Monday Madness
1. The one kitchen appliance I just could not live without is my refrigerator.
2. My desk always looks like a 2 1/2 year organized it.
3. The clocks in my house are always five minutes fast.
4. The one television program I just can't stand is, I don't watch any that I can't stand so I don't know.
5. The one television program I try to never miss is 24.
6. When it comes to housework, I really hate cleaning the glass shower doors.
7. If I could re-design my living room, the first thing I would do is add in a separate play area that could be totally closed off.
8. I wish I had a bigger laundry room in my house.
9. When someone points a camera at me and says 'Smile!' I usually duck and cringe.
10. I expect I'll have my income tax done by next week ;) .

~~Alrighty Then~~
We are now a three cell phone family...yikes!
Cell phones and I don't seem to get along very well. I managed to lose mine earlier in the week...over the course of eight years...I've now lost two and Meredith has broken one.
Maybe I was supposed to lose it, I don't really know. The end result is that we all ended up getting new ones...Josh too...yikes...what have we done. I know a lot of girls that are young teenagers and have a phone...they need one for safety, etc. I don't know many guys that have them but it will be more convenient for me. No more giving him one of our phones, no more worrying that he will waiting for me at school because Meredith and I are running five minutes late, etc.
We can all assign different pictures to different callers so when I call his phone, he has a cat with these peering eyes that comes up... I told him that's me watching him...hehe. Marc loves coffee, so when he calls me that's what comes up on my phone.
I'm off to learn the text messaging lingo, I want to be able to understand what Josh is sayiing to me when I get a text message from him...or do I...LOL!

~Slowing Down~
Since Meredith went to Mother's Day Yesterday, I took the opportunity to slow down and just "be"...something I rarely do anymore. How often do you slow down, what do you notice when you do?
My list of things I became very aware of include:
The gradient blues of a crisp clear sky~
How the sun feels on your arm through the car window on a cold day~
The reflectiveness of glass on buildings~
The nice look of an new, unstained highway~
Ok, can you tell that while I was just "being"...I was on my way to the mall...LOL...had errands to run, ya know...can't get behind on those.

Seeing my kids share left over cake batter~

Grabbed this funny at Buzzstuff:
You know you are living in the year 2004 when:
A. Your reason for not staying in touch with family is because they do not have e-mail.
B. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three.
C. Your grandmother asks you to send her a JPEG file of your newborn so she can create a screen saver.
D. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home.
E. Every commercial on television has a web site address at the bottom of the screen.
F You buy a computer and 3 months later it's out of date and sells for half the price you paid.
G. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go get it.
H. Using real money, instead of credit or debit, to make a purchase would be a hassle and take planning.
I. You just tried to enter your password on the microwave.
J. You consider second-day air delivery painfully slow.
K. Your dining room table is now your flat filing cabinet.
L. Your idea of being organized is multiple-colored Post-it notes.
M. You hear most of your jokes via e-mail instead of in person.
N. You get an extra phone line so you can get phone calls.
O. You disconnect from the Internet and get this awful feeling, as if you just pulled the plug on a loved one.
P. You get up in the morning and go online before getting your coffee.
Q. You wake up at 2 AM to go to the bathroom and check your e-mail on your way back to bed.
R. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. :)

~~*Laundry*~~
It started with Meredith's laundry...I wash everything in cold water and hang to dry. Fast forward about a year and I started washing Josh's laundry and hanging it too. Everything seems to last longer, doesn't fade near as much and just looks nicer to me.
Today, I'm doing laundry and frankly, I don't think it's ever going to end. How in the world can two people wear so much clothing...oh yes...I forgot...we *are* talking about a teenager and a toddler...jeez...how much more opposite could you get.
She spills stuff and he...well...he's a teenager, don't need to say another word about that, do I?
Oh lovely, the washer just stopped...time for me to get back to work! posted by Angie @ 1/21/2004 03:02:04 PM

~One of My Favorite Times of Day~
Undoubtedly one of my favorite times of the day is when Meredith comes into bathroom with me while I finish getting ready to go somewhere. I put her up on the cabinet and she loves to use my makeup brushes, tries to put on lip gloss, brushes her teeth and wants me to put perfume on her.
I've noticed as I'm standing there that I go back in my mind to many years ago, when I was a little girl and my mom would do the same thing with me. I see Meredith as myself sitting on the cabinet and I'm my mom...I can remember the wonderful feelings I would have when I was a little girl it was like being invited into a private world that just involved her and I. We would talk, laugh and play together...I would put her jewelry on and always wanted her to put perfume on me. Mom and I had some of the most meaningful talks in the bathroom both as a child and as a teenager.
I hope Meredith has some of the same memories with me when she grows up...which is happening too fast to suit me.
Hope you have a Wonderful Day~

~Monday Madness~
1. I often wake up before my alarm clock goes off. ~No Clock Here~
Lucky for my entire family, I don't use an alarm clock...don't have to...I wake up nice and early and when my eyes open, I'm wide awake, I love mornings!
2. I love to drive; in any kind of weather! ~F~
Uh, NOT! Don't ask me to drive in ice or snow...I'm a native Texan and frankly here in North Texas we don't get enough bad weather to ever learn how to drive in it.
3. I'd rather have to worry about staying warm than staying cool. ~T~
I guess ~*if*~ I had to worry, it would be about staying warm...although I can't imagine having to do that.
4. I wish I lived in another state. ~Eh, sometimes~
My favorite place to live would be Portland, Oregon. What an incredible place, so beautiful, so much to do, something for everyone...oh and I guess it helps that I met my dh of almost nine years on aol and he lived in Portland ;)
5. Multi-tasking is what I do best! ~T, T & T~
Oh yes, bring on the multi-tasking...cook dinner, help with homework, get Meredith something to drink, etc...honestly, as a mom is there anything **~other~** than multi-tasking...hehe~
6. Flying is the only way to go! ~On the Fence~
I used to think flying was the only way to go but have in some repects changed my mind. The guys have talked me into taking a few road trips and actually we have some of the *best* memories from those!
7. Budgeting my money is one of my downfalls. ~T~
My dh does that part
8. I wish there was 8 days in the week! ~F~
Nah, I'd just find more stuff to do
9. I get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. ~Try To~
I try to, it's part of me taking care of me.
10. I'm a night owl. ~F~
Nope, that's my dh ;)

~~*Happy Sunday To You*~~
Yesterday was an experience for us...Josh had an All City Band Concert and...**~GASP~**, we took Meredith with us...aaaaaccccckkkkk!
I knew this would be a big challenge for her *and* us so I made sure she had a nap and we took colors, coloring books, stickers, books to read, snacks, juice, etc. to help keep her occupied...LOL...yea, right!
Before the band began playing the band director talked about the concert being taped for tv and a cd being made as well sooooo....everyone needed to turn off their cell phones and keep their kids quiet...uh....oh...at that very moment I knew there would be a problem.
We told Meredith that she had to be quiet while the music was playing...we put our finger over our mouth and said...shhhhh...you have to be very quiet...and she put her finger over her mouth and said...shhhhhh...be quiet, seemed to me that she got the idea.
We had the stickers out and during the first song, she got really excited about the Tigger sticker...and says...Oohhhhhh....Mommy, Tigger...Tigger...jump...Tigger...jump...as she stands up in her chair between us and starts jumping up and down just like Tigger does. As any normal parents would do, we immediately said...shhhhhh...you have to be quiet...she said ok...I be quiet...ok, good girl.
Second song starts and she wanted some of her Elmo snacks...I breathe a sigh of relief...I mean if she's eating Elmo snacks she'll be quiet...right...hahahaha....wrong...as soon as she finds an Elmo one...she's hollering Elmo...I got Elmo...Elmo, Elmo, Elmo...immediately I say to be quiet...she says, No...Emme not quiet...Marc took her out as I sank in my chair, hoping no one would think I was one of those horrible parents that tried to bring their kid to a band concert.
Often, I think that other people *ass*ume that if you bring a young child to a siblings function that it's because you're rude or inconsiderate of others but that's not ever the case for us. Here's the deal, Meredith loves, loves, loves her brother and she loves to go to his functions...on the way there, she kept repeating, "Bubba, play horn...Bubba, play horn". She gets so excited to see him on stage and then when he's done, she's thrilled to see him as he comes down the hall with all his gear. He usually has to hand everything off to us so he can pick her up.
So the next time you see a young sibling at a concert or some other function, don't *ass*ume that the parents are rude, etc...rather think about the delight that the little brother or sister has when they see their older siblings performing. posted by Angie @ 1/18/2004 09:24:39 AM

It's raining...it's pouring...the Old Man is snoring...I wonder why they put those lyrics together...was it because it rhymed and that's it? Surely, there's some story behind it...oh gosh, I hate it when my mind goes off track like that...LOL!
Big news of the day here...
A 14 year old boy dies after being stabbed outside his middle school...what a senseless death...sigh.
Oh and this...
Paramedics Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Underage Girl...for goodness sakes...what in the world is wrong with people...freaking idiots...stupid...and why in the world would Medstar approve for a underage girl to ride along with two men...heck, in Boy Scouts leadership *must* be two deep at all times...period. I don't know, maybe it's just me but on the other side why would parents let their teenage daughter ride along with two strange men.
For now, there won't be anymore ride-along program available through Medstar and that's a shame for everyone involved. I personally think they should keep the program and make some revisions...one of them being to always require an adult to ride along with their child...then there's no chance of anyone being taken advantage of...that's just my opinion.

Thankful Thursday
I'm thankful for so many things both big and small, here's a few~
I'm thankful that the Lord gave me another day of life this morning~
I'm thankful that Josh still likes me to make his lunch...he says no one could make a better sandwich than me ;)
I'm thankful that Meredith loves for me to rub her back at night as she snuggles down under her blankets and starts drifting off to sleep~
I'm thankful for my dishwasher or I'd be washing an awful lot of dishes~
I'm thankful to have my parents living close by again~ posted by Angie @ 1/15/2004 11:25:16 AM

~Life is so Sweet~
Yesterday, I was lucky enough to experience one of the sweetest things about life, about being a daughter and about being a Mommy!
Two weeks ago, my parents moved back into the same area as us. They were almost two hours away and now they are just twenty minutes...I'm so happy!
Meredith and I packed up her baby dolls, the babies diaper bag, and the baby stroller and took off to see my Mom & Dad...we were there in seventeen minutes flat...just incredible.
Meredith is 2 1/2 and while she has seen my parents it's not ever been anything really ~regular~...just here and there...I've always wanted her to be able to see them more and have a close relationship with them but it was hard with them being a couple hours away....not anymore...hehe!
We got there yesterday and you should have seen her...she followed her Papa around everywhere...every place he went, she went...it was so cute!
Ahhhh...the sweetness of seeing my baby girl so happy...happy to be at her Nana's & Papa's house, happy to have her Papa brush her teeth, happy to have her Nana rock her baby doll, happy to play the "My Chair" game with Papa, delighted when Papa counts things with her, thrilled to share a cookie with Nana...oh, the list goes on and on. posted by Angie @ 1/15/2004 07:06:11 AM

It's almost noon here as I post today and I feel like I've been on a three day race already today ;)
I changed the site over to Valentine's...do you like? I'm guessing I'll always be changing, doing and re-arranging around here.
Meredith was so happy to go to Mother's Day Out today, she loves playing with her friends on Tuesday's and Thursday's.
On the way to school she always *peeks* into her lunch bag to see what I've packed for her...today, she was so excited to see that I put some cake in her bag that she and I made together on Sunday afternoon. She squealed in delight...hehe...cake, cake, cake...she was so excited over it. It always warms my heart to see her get excited!
Yesterday was report card day in our house...Josh has almost all honors classes and his workload has been unbelievable...I don't remember ever doing three hours of homework at night. We are very proud of him, he ended up with five A's and two very strong B's...it's really hard to grasp that he's growing up so fast and his grades are already going towards his high school GPA.
I'm reminded *every* single day to slow down and enjoy both of them while I've got them. When I look at the two of them I realize just how fast they are growing and maturing and how little time I have left with both of them at home...it goes soooooo fast!
Now, off to do a little more housework while I can~

Toddlers and Shoes...
Have you ever really watched a toddlers face when they put their socks and shoes on by themselves?
Nowadays when I want to go somewhere, I know to start at least 30 minutes ahead so that Meredith...aka...Miss Independent...can put her shoes and socks on...hehe...it's so cute to watch.
She still struggles with her socks, trying over and over again to wriggle her toes into them just right. She doesn't like them to be bunched or wadded up in her shoes so she works very hard to get them right...goes like this...
Sit down, pull up pant legs to the knees, look at, name and show me every boo-boo on both legs...she gets part of her toes in the sock but can't get them all just yet...she tries over and over and over and over...again and again and again and yet again and finally asks me to help her put them on...but I can only get her toes in the sock and then she's back to doing it herself...she pulls them over her foot to the ankles and stops there...doesn't pull them up, fold them over...just a wad of material around her ankles...LOL!
When she's got her socks on, it's time for shoes...she puts them down in front of her...looks at her foot, then her shoe, then her foot, then her shoe...looks at me and says, "this foot mom?"...yes, sweetheart...that's the correct foot...she slides her foot in and gets a look of divine joy...we do the same thing for the other foot too.
Now she has both socks and shoes on...socks wadded around her ankles, pants pulled up to her knees...with that look of divine joy and accomplishment on her face, jumping up and down with glee...she says, "ready mom, let's go"...ahhhh...the sweet days of growing up...it takes so little to make her so happy!

Top of the Morning to You!
Let's start with the weather...here in North Texas we have yet to have a winter...today's high is forecasted to be 65 degrees...what's up with that?
We've been trying to get Meredith back on some sort of normal schedule, she's gotten in the habit of going to bed late and waking up ~really~ late so yesterday she went without a nap all day. She went down easily at 8 last night...woohoo!
Meredith and I have been listening to our Disney Classics cd's lately and I'd forgotten how happy they are...these particular cd's make me feel like a kid...no worries, happy and lighthearted...I'm assuming that everyone has types of music that make them feel the same way.
I can think of several people that would really benefit from some happy, lighthearted music...so many folks walk around with their knickers twisted all the time over nothing...gets really annoying after a while...kwim~
Off to get ready for our Monday Target run.

How about some whining and complaining this week?
[sight]:: Name 2 things that annoy you on/about television.
Violence and Sexually related material...I don't find viewing blood and guts a form of entertainment...and why the need for so much sexually related material.
[taste]:: Name 2 of the worst tasting foods or drinks you ever had.
Can't think of any, hmmmm...there must be something but it's escaping me at the moment
[smell]:: Name 2 smells that you can't stand and why
Vomit...it's self explanatory...if I smell it, I start getting sick too.
Bad Breath...yuck, yuck, yuck
[touch]:: Name 2 things (objects, body parts, etc...) that you don't like other people to touch and why.
My throat, I've got a fear of being choked...you asked ;)
My car keys, when someone gets ahold of them I can't seem to find them when I need them.
[hearing]:: What are the 2 sounds/noises that most irritate you and why
Hearing someone chew their food, especially if I'm in a car with them and it's quiet...ewwwwww...chewing and swallowing...chewing and swallowing...over and over again.
When I see a baby crying and the parents aren't doing anything about it...especially if it's a really young baby...I don't understand how people can be at a mall with a baby screaming it's head off and the parents are just shopping away, like nothings going on...I want to say...Heeeelllllooooo...do you hear your baby...what could be more important than your sweet baby...who by the way...is crying their head off in case you didn't notice~

What a day, what a day, what a day!
Meredith is driving me b*o*n*k*e*r*s!
Let's see, she's spilled 7UP all over the floor twice, while she was bending over to pick up stuff.
She gave the dog a *huge* container of Eucerin Cream to eat...Oreo shouldn't have any problems with dry skin since she ate about 75% of it before I noticed what was going on.
While trying to be helpful, she spilled a bowl of water all over the floor.
She wanted to brush her teeth and managed to squeeze out about 1/2 a tube of toothpaste for me to clean up.
She got my bottle of saline solution that I've been using in my poor, dry nose and had so much fun squirting the dogs with it...oy~

Meredith has three baby dolls now, she got two a little before Christmas and would play with them off and on. My parents gave her Bitty Baby (her absolute favorite) for Christmas and that's when the doll craziness set in, now her entire life revolves around these dolls...which means mine does too!
She doesn't do anything without them, when it's time for bed, we must gather all the dolls, swaddle them, put them in bed and rub their backs so they can go to sleep...so now, I'm covering four of them every night. Meredith picks out just the right blanket for each one to use every night, I tend to think that any blanket I grab will be just fine but not her, she's very particular and goes through some sort of decision process for each one...I have no clue what the criteria is but whatever it is, it's important to her.
When she wakes up in the mornings, we have to wake the babies too. Yesterday morning we didn't get the babies out of bed and while she was eating breakfast, she informed me that the babies were crying and we needed to get them. She loads them all in her stroller which is really designed for one baby doll and brings them everywhere with her.
I had some cloth diapers that I used with her and since I didn't really want to throw them away, I gave them to her to use with her babies and you guessed it, now along with the baby dolls, the stroller, the highchair, the babies diaper bag, bottles of milk and juice, baby food, baby clothes now I too am having to help keep those put away...I've decided I like self torture...;)...not really, she's so darn cute and plays with them for hours on end.
I love watching her play with them, she's talks so sweetly to them, she rubs their backs, she changes their diapers...oh and she plays with them like her 13 year old brother plays with her, she flips them all around...up in the air...twisting and turning and "freestyle dancing" with them. She thinks that's how you're supposed to play since her brother has always done that with her...hehe...it's so charming to watch.

The holidays are officially over here and Josh returns to school tomorrow.
I'm not really ready for him to go back just yet, he's been such a joy to be around the last couple weeks. I've had the opportunity to see just how much he's maturing and at a such a breakneck speed. We spent the holidays in much slower motion than years past so we had more time to just "hang" out, that's been really good for my spirits and my heart.

Morning!
Let me start with the most obvious in my world...the high on Saturday was about 85 and this morning we are sitting at 24...this year we have to keep summer and winter clothes out year round...it's crazy.
The Lord has blessed us with yet another beautiful morning, as I'm typing this I can see the sun coming over the horizon through my window. The kids are still in bed which allows me just a bit of solitude prior to the daily madness starting. I try my best to ~always~ get up before them...I seem to think the best in the early part of the day...Marc doesn't...he's the opposite of me...of course ;)
I hope you all have a ~Great~ day today and slow down enough to really appreciate some of the simple things in your life...a few that I appreciate in mine this morning, the smell of Marc's coffee brewing, the view of the sun coming up over the horizon, my most comfy, soft lounge pants that are keeping me warm as I type and the ability to take a nice warm shower this morning.

Ahhhhh...what a little sleep will do for me. Woke up this morning and feel great since I actually slept seven hours through ~without~ waking up once...woohoo...that's almost unheard of.
On another note, I've been eating low carb now since the week before Thanksgiving...I try to keep it to 50 carbs or less a day and the majority of those the healthy ones...salads and veggies. I've lost 14 pounds since starting and it's been really easy thus far.
Welllllll...on Sunday night I had a hamburger and french fries...whoa...talk about being almost instantly sick, it was really, really bad. I was shaky, hot and my stomach hurt...bad...cramps. I think I sent my system into a sort of frenzy... I can't remember when I've eaten that size of burger or fries...why do they make them so ~big~ ? I ate that on Sunday evening and couldn't even think about food until late yesterday afternoon, there wasn't anyplace to put it since I was still so full.
Josh reminded me that I don't ever eat that much anymore and my body getting sick is a way of telling me that all those carbs aren't good for my body...hmmm..ya think so...gotta love it when my teenager reminds me of what I've been saying now for a couple of months ;)
Speaking of Josh, he starts back to school on Tuesday which also means means back to "Camp Adams" in athletics. Coach Adams spends the first week or so back making the guys run, run and run some more, to help them "rid" themselves off all the holiday goodies they managed to pack on during the holiday break. It's good for him to run, lift weights and work out...helps keep his testosterone levels in check since it runs on high ~all the time~ around our household...grin...makes a mom crazy sometimes ;)
I hear the princess of the house, she's in her room, in her bed...hollering..."Wake Up Mommy, Wake Up Marc, Wake up Bubba...Donuts?" Guess I know what she wants for breakfast today...gotta run now~ posted by Angie @ 1/03/2004 07:39:44 AM

::~Happy 2004~::
The older I get the faster the years ~fly~ by. Today is the beginning of a new year and as soon as I turn around, I'll be wondering where it went. I remember being young and being glad when a new year rolled around, it signified that I was getting older, more mature (hopefully ;), new opportunities, etc. I don't get as excited about moving from one year to the next these days. It signifies different things for me now, mainly that my sweet babies are growing up. I have very few years left with Josh at home and I truly hate to think about that, I begin to wonder...have I really done a good job raising him...have I really instilled the values and character traits in him that I think I have...the list goes on and on.
Having both a teenager and a toddler allows me to see everything from both spectrums...when Josh and Meredith are walking along together...I see just how fast he's grown up before my eyes and just how fast she's growing up. The age difference between the two of them has made me really slow down and appreciate each and every day that I have both of them at home. I love watching them play, watching them ~freestyle~ dance, watching Meredith go up from behind her bubba and give him a kiss, watching through the window as they go get the mail everyday together...it's those types of things that I've slowed down to savor, value and treasure...the sweetest memories a mother could have...pure, gentle, kind and loving.
Our family wishes you a ::~Wonderful 2004~::
